With EventHub, you can choose from the following tools.
- YouTube
- Vimeo
- Zoom*
However, as Zoom cannot be directly embedded into EventHub, you will need to stream videos from Zoom through either YouTube or Vimeo. Due to this, the video streaming tool options are as follows:
- YouTube
- Vimeo
- Stream from Zoom through YouTube
- Stream from Zoom through Vimeo
2. Comparing the various tools
YouTube
We recommend this option for companies that already have a YouTube Live account. This option is not as suitable for paid or closed events, as the content streamed is not private and can be shared easily. YouTube is also quite strict regarding copyright laws and infringement, and streaming can be stopped suddenly if the video is under investigation or receives a copyright claim. Due to this, we advise caution when using background music or content in your videos. The same rules also apply for limited publications. Videos can be archived.
Vimeo
Vimeo offers the most protection in terms of privacy and so we recommend this option for paid or closed events. Both live-streaming and pre-recorded video streaming are available. Videos can be archived.
Zoom
Zoom is a good option for sessions with multiple speakers, such as panel discussions. Speakers do not have to physically be in the same location and can join from their own accounts. Videos can be archived.
3. How to choose the best tool for your event
Will your session involve multiple speakers joining from different locations?
Zoom is best for these types of sessions. If you are planning on using pre-recorded content, you can also use other tools such as Google Hangout, Skype, or Teams to record your seminar or panel discussion without worrying whether they will work with EventHub or not.
Is your event free or paid?
We do not recommend YouTube for paid events, as it's very important to ensure the privacy of your event's content. However, with YouTube, it is very easy to distribute videos. Furthermore, the platform regulations are quite strict regarding paid content, and so the monetization of videos itself is in a grey area. Due to this, we recommend using Vimeo for paid events.
Will you be hosting a closed event, or do you want to prevent your video from being distributed?
For the same reasons stated above, we recommend Vimeo for this type of event.
- Closed events with live or pre-recorded video streaming: Vimeo
- Closed or paid events with live video streaming of multiple speakers participating from different locations: Zoom > Vimeo
- Closed or paid events with pre-recorded video streaming of multiple speakers participating from different locations: Record the video using any tool you prefer (Zoom, Teams, Skype, etc.), and stream from Vimeo
- Free events, or events for which you don't mind or would like the content to be distributed: YouTube. However, due to strict copyright regulations, YouTube streams can be stopped midway, so we recommend taking caution with this option.
4. Account requirements
You will need the following accounts in order to stream on EventHub.
For live streaming:
- Vimeo: A Premium plan or higher, from ¥7,500/month(annual subscription)
- YouTube: Free(you will need an account which allows live streaming to be embedded)
